Bespoke Projects

Video processing has now become accessible to all industries and researchers alike. No more do you need to balance battery life, trigger settings and memory issues with a camera trap. With thermal or visible light cameras and Wildlife Imaging systems, you can set a schedule and see exactly what is happening in your area, day and night.

We work with partners to tailor monitoring efforts to suit your project. With pre-built algorithms to condense video to images and perform wildlife detection and tracking, the data you need from the video can readily be extracted. We also provide custom-made solutions to better suit your needs. From site specific ML models to a video processing pipeline made just for you, let us create your video processing solutions.

One example of this sort of project is our collaboration with Hoyle Tanner to monitor the site of a wildlife crossing before and after its construction in our home state of Vermont. We worked with the team at Hoyle Tanner to design a remotely powered thermal camera system that could record video independently, 24 hours a day, for almost three weeks! We are processing the video to find the ‘needle-in-the-haystack’ of wildlife crossing the camera field of view. A custom project design that fits their needs and their budget.

Another example is our collaboration with the White Mountain National Forest in New Hampshire. They were interested in confirming their suspicion that there was a hibernacula in one of the high peaks of the White Mountains. We designed a thermal camera system that could be hiked into the mountains, set up, and run autonomously in some pretty harsh conditions. The camera and equipment were dug out of several inches of snow in the fall and hauled back down the mountain. When we processed the video, we were amazed at the number of bats we found enjoying the grand views from the White Mountains!
